Route 55 traverses the center of the Town of LaGrange and from the Freedom Plains Road (DC 47) intersection to the intersection with the Taconic State Parkway, Route 55 is populated with several office buildings, restaurants, the entrance to the Arlington High School Campus as well as the entrance to Stringham Road which is where the Town hall and Town recreation fields exist. It is the admirable goal of the town planners to create a viable town center along this stretch of road. One only has to drive by the recently built Hannaford Supermarket to witness the village look that the town is after. A drive along Freedom Plains Road (DC 47) provides a glorious opportunity to experience the vistas that make this town so desirable. You'll pass by James Baird State Park, beautiful farmland, rolling hills and entrances to many wonderful family neighborhoods. The Town of LaGrange is served by the Arlington Central School District.
